Donatelle’s purpose statement
We create possibilities to improve the quality of life for humankind, one person at a time.
At Donatelle, we believe that to be one of the best medical device companies today, we need to live our values and purpose, in the work we do and the way we live every day. But sometimes we have the opportunity to do that in a particularly significant and meaningful way. Our partnership with Surgical Implant Generation Network (SIGN) is a case in point.
Founded in 1968 by orthopaedic surgeon Lewis G. Zirkle, Jr. MD, SIGN is an organization that supports trauma surgeons in developing nations throughout the world, who have committed their lives to serving the injured poor. These surgeons often work with limited hospital resources, overcrowded wards, and (at times) a lack of pay and support from health administrations. Equipping them with orthopaedic training and instrumentation helps ensure quality fracture care for those who desperately need it but cannot afford it.
In Afghanistan, the innovative SIGN HIP Construct System is helping surgeons treat patients with severe hip fractures, who would otherwise be treated with traction by a body cast—an approach that results in disability.
We are proud and honored to be able to use our medical device development and manufacturing expertise to contribute metal components for the SIGN HIP Construct System, helping restore healing and hope in a war-torn country, one person at a time.
